From Witches to Weddings

I have always had a passion for art and creating.  I grew up in southeast Asia where TV wasn't in English, so I was raised with crayons and blank white paper instead.  My favorite thing to draw was Glenda the good witch from "Wizard of Oz," I loved her big dress and sparkly crown.  Not much has changed.

I graduated with a BFA in Fashion Design and a minor in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design.  My design partner and I were awarded the highest honor in our class, the Golden Scissors, only given out to one senior collection each year.  Our collection was honored with several more accolades within the next few months, including being featured in Saks Fifth Avenue's showcase.

After school I moved to New York City, and worked in design and production with Mary Ping of Slow and Steady Wins the Race and Betsey Johnson.  While living in New York my friends started to get married, and my career in bridal was begun: new requests for custom work came in just as I finished previous orders.

In 2009 I moved to San Diego, California.  Here I worked as a seamstress in bridal boutiques, fixing innumerable aspects of gowns, sometimes turning them into different gowns entirely!  I love working with brides to make them love their dress; it's a wonderful feeling to help with one of the most important parts of one of the most important days in their lives!

I now exclusively design and create original pieces for Chelsea Rose Bridal.  I do most of the patterning and sewing myself in my studio.  All my fabrics are natural fiber (silk, cotton, linen), never polyester.  I carefully oversee every step of the process to ensure beautiful quality in my finished pieces.

About Chelsea Rose Bridal

Testimonial: Halligan

Sweet Chelsea Cook poured her heart and soul into my dress. She hand sewed every perfect ruffle and I could feel her magic efforts and creative energies the second I slipped into my dress. Working with her was a true stress free delight. She captured our "southern county fair" theme to the tee. Chelsea made the perfect super short number that kept me cool in the hot Georgia humidity! Choosing her to make my dress was one of the best parts of planning the event. Definitely one of the cutest professionals in the wedding world. I now have a treasured heirloom garment that will remain in my family for several lifetimes.
